Lisa Velasco is Director, Professional Services for The Hardenbergh Group. She brings almost 30 years of experience in hospitals and managed care organizations, accreditation and regulatory standards, knowledge of healthcare law, credentialing and privileging, administration, project management, start-up operations, acquisitions and mergers, graduate medical education, continuing medical education, physician relations, recruitment, and practitioner wellness.
Lisa leverages her vast professional experience to identify and place experienced, qualified MSPs to help clients fill temporary vacancies, supplement existing staff during peak workloads, assess and improve operational efficiency, prepare for regulatory surveys and audits, pursue NCQA accreditation and certification, and more. Lisa is a thought leader, having co-authored numerous articles and spoken frequently on various topics.
Prior to joining The Hardenbergh Group, Lisa was the System Director of Physician Services at NCH Healthcare System encompassing the Medical Staff Office, the CVO for NCHMD, Inc., and Southwest Florida Physician’s Association.
While at NCH, Lisa:
• Achieved full, system-wide compliance for regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies for the Medical Staff, Managed Care, Quality (peer review) and Ambulatory Care,
• Developed and implemented a comprehensive physician and allied health professional, officer, and medical staff leader onboarding and orientation program,
• Developed a comprehensive Professional Practice Evaluation Process and Physician Wellness Support Group in collaboration with the Medical Staff President,
• Received Quality Award in 2018 for reducing turn-around time for processing applications and improving efficiencies by developing a paperless credentialing process with virtual committees, • Recognized by The Joint Commission in 2011 for best practice/disaster privileging and in 2019 for an on-line survey process with full compliance.
Prior to joining NCH, Lisa served as the Corporate Credentialing Project Manager, and Manager of Medical Staff Services and Graduate Medical Education for Baptist Health South Florida where she developed and implemented a system-wide universal reappointment process for six hospitals. Prior to Baptist Health, Lisa was Director of the Corporate Credentialing Office for Jackson Health System where she was instrumental in integrating medical staff processes following a merger of three healthcare entities. Additionally, she developed a CVO while managing three Medical Staff Offices.
Lisa completed the NAMSS Leadership Certificate Program in 2018 and has served on the NAMSS Certification Commission and Ethics Committee. She received the 2020 Mentor Award from Florida Association of Medical Staff Services and has served in leadership roles on the local, state, and national level. Lisa is a licensed physical therapist assistant and a certified health coach. Her passion is fostering an environment of continuous learning, professional development, and networking amongst her peers.
